Domino Server 6.0.1 Windows 2000

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the process of upgrading my current Notes/Domino 5.07 server to version 6.01. The plan consists of leaving our production server alone and building a brand new server running Windows 2000 Server. So to get things started we have created an isolated lab environment that consists of the new W2K server and a workstation (to test out our client migration). We followed the steps to move our existing Notes/Domino server from one machine to another via technotes #162836. We tested for server/client functionality and everything seemed to work great. The next step was to upgrade our Domino server/Notes client to version 6.01. To go about this we followed the Redbook “Upgrading to Lotus Notes and Domino 6”. The server upgrade seemed to take well, we replaced and converted all of our databases to the 6.01/ODS4.3 version. We finished off by installing the administration client on the server. On the test workstation, we installed the multi-user version of Notes and brought over all of my config files (names.nsf, user.id, desktop5.dsk, and bookmark.nsf ) and put them in the proper directory C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\\Application Data\Lotus\Notes\Data. I went through the initial workstation setup ok, and all of my config files were properly converted. Great! All of my setting/mail were carried over perfectly.

Now onto the problem that we have already talked with Lotus Tech support about but, they have yet to pinpoint the error. When I tried to upgrade my account to roaming, adminp created the roaming folder correctly but thats all it does. I get this console error message “Admin Process: Received the following error performing a Update Roaming User State in Person Record request – Remote pathname must be relative to the data directory - connecting to mail/myserver”. I triple checked the data directory path in the person/server doc, notes.ini, and it looks correct. It is the standard mail path that Lotus sets up mail\mymail. I also verified that there are no directoy links which are not supported if using the roaming feature. So here is the twist, I decided to create a test user and make him a roaming user from the get go and adminp worked great. It created his mail file and roaming folder/files. I logged in as the test user on the workstation and was able to roam, everything replicated like it should. So I was able to get roaming working with a new user, but not an old user. The weird thing is when I tried to remove the test users roaming access, I received the same error above “Remote pathname must be relative to the data directory”. The server must know the correct path because it just gave him roaming access?!

So that’s where I’m at right now. If you guys have seen this before or if you think of anything I could try to resolve this error please help. We have 250 users and we would like to implement this feature. Oh ya sorry about writing a book, but I wanted you guys to know how I got to this point.

Thanks in advance,

Joe
